Los Angeles Traffic Tickets
Every year, over 34 million people receive a traffic ticket from a police officer. There are two major types of traffic tickets:
- Tickets for moving violations; speeding, failure to obey traffic signs or lights, illegal turns, or doing anything else illegal while your car is in motion
- Tickets for non-moving violations; parking illegally, not carrying insurance, or a valid registration.
No matter which type of ticket you receive, you are always able to contest it. Contrary to what most people think, you can contest a ticket by mail without making a court appearance. If you do this, you usually have a better chance of having your case dismissed. If the prosecution does not submit their side in writing by the deadline date, your case will be dismissed. Due to the procedural hindrances for the prosecution, dismissals due to lack of prosecution are won in approximately 30% of written defenses.
99% of people issued traffic tickets in California do not contest them even though the law allows you to contest any traffic citation completely by mail. You can appear via mail through a Written Not Guilty Plea. In your plea, you can request a Trial by Written Declaration. If you lose the trail by declaration, you have 20 days in which you can request a Trial de Novo (new trial) and appear in court for the first time.
Having a lawyer through all of this increases your chances of beating the ticket. Traffic Ticket Justice specializes in only these cases. They became the experts so you do not have to be an expert.
